At Helligsø Draget you are in the middle of an impressive nature, surrounded by the Limfjord on both sides and only a few minutes drive to the North Sea. Here you will find beautiful beaches and bays suitable for windsurfing. The numerous barrows give a hint that the area is an old cultural landscape. The 49 burial mounds at Ydby Hede form Denmark's largest collection of graves, while the Lundehøj passage grave near Heltborg is the oldest, dating back some 6000 years. The immensely varied nature has inspired many artists, including Jens Søndergaard, whose spirited landscape paintings can be seen today at the Heltborg Museum, his former summer home. Also make a detour to Vestervig. The beautiful old houses testify to the town's historical importance as a bishop's seat and cultural center, and linked to the church is the saga of Liden Kirsten and Prince Buris's tragic love affair. Just east of the cottage is 'Limfjordscentret Doverodde Købmandsgård', an exciting adventure center with entertainment and challenges for the whole family.
