At about 280 meters altitude, in the middle of the picturesque landscape of Istria, lies the small Croatian village of Kanfanar. Kanfanar first appeared in the middle of the eleventh century. However, the village did not become a municipality until the late seventeenth century, when the inhabitants of the neighboring village of Dvigrad left their homes and founded a new settlement in nearby Kanfanar. At the end of the nineteenth century, the railway was built in and around Kanfanar, bringing many merchants and merchants to the village. As a result, Kanfanar quickly became a significant traffic point. During the Second World War, however, a part of the then built mansions was destroyed. This meant that valuable historical items were lost. However, the locals have used their chance for a new beginning and today the village shines again in its old glory.
