The mountain peaks of Tejeda, Almiraja and Almara are also worth a visit, and form a lovely backdrop for the blue Mediterranean. The mountainous terrain, which separates Granada and Malaga, is a designated natural park of 40,663 hectares, and is full of pretty villages.

Although Malaga is known for its beaches, relaxed ambience and cosmopolitan facilities, there is a real history and culture to the area which should definitely not go unexplored whilst renting apartments on the Costa del Sol.
