Nerja’s beaches – self-catering in Spain
The Costa del Sol is known for its incredibly sunny disposition – the average annual temperature being a staggering 19 degrees Celsius! This means plenty of days by the beach, cooling off in the sea or on the sand with cocktail in hand. Our Nerja villas are home to a 1 km long sandy beach on the main waterfront, surrounded by impressive rock and cliff formations; as well as other beaches nearby, within easy reach of our Spanish villas. Just up the coast, holidaymakers will find Playa de Maro beach which is slightly quieter than the main beach, and further still Cala del Cañuelo, a small cove which is ideal for snorkelling.
Nature opportunities from Spanish villas
Our Nerja villas may be right on the sea, but it is also at the foot of the fantastic Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama Natural Park. This area of mountains and scenic countryside separates the Provinces of Granada and Malaga and is a great day out on family holidays. Drive to the park from villas in Andalusia and visit some of the park’s picturesque villages, often decorated in sparkling regional flowers. There are also a large number of caves in this area, with the most popular being the Nerja caves which stretch for 5km and are home to the biggest stalagmite in the world. This is surely something that will impress young and old alike!
Eating out on villa holiday in Spain
What could be better on self-catering holidays than relaxing in a shaded local tapas bar sampling the Spanish cuisine with a selection of small tapas dishes? Or perhaps spend your days by the refreshing ocean, soaking up the sun and then dining on a feast of locally produced wine and freshly caught seafood. There are many cosy restaurants in Nerja where you can enjoy Spanish delicacies such as paella, gambas, and camarones. You will also find lots of delicious Spanish wine to wash it all down. Nibble on lightly battered rings of calamari or fried aubergine and roasted peppers in the town centre, or try to recreate local recipes back at Spanish apartments.
