The region around Supetar boasts an interesting history and has been inhabited since Roman times. Guests in our villas Croatia often hike to the quarries, a source of the island’s famous white limestone. Alternatively, visit the church of St Peter of Supetar to see the Christian mosaics, which have been preserved from the 6th century. Although the church was first constructed in the 6th century, it has been restored and rebuilt several times. After being destroyed in a fire in 1727 it was rebuilt in the 18th century and is a must-see spot during your self-catering Croatia holiday.
At the Cape of Saint Nicholas, a settlement was formed by the Turks fleeing the mainland. Following this, Venetians later constructed magnificent palaces and Supetar quickly became a trading centre. The Cape of Saint Nicholas is now a cemetery and also home to an extravagant and slightly kitsch mausoleum which dates back to the year 1904. It was commissioned by the wealthy Petrinovic family, who enlisted the help of Toma Rosandic. The white dome of the mausoleum dominates the landscape and may be visible from your villas Croatia.
The sea is crystal clear, which ensures its beautiful underwater formations and fish can be easily seen. The area is a popular destination for boat trips and diving and attracts visitors from near and far, including guests in our Zadar apartments. The Tri Mosta beach is considered the most popular beach in town, although the Banj beach is particularly favoured by families due to its shallow bays. For guests staying in our villas in Dubrovnik, the opportunity to relax on the sand is a popular option and a nice change from the rocky shores near the villas in Dubrovnik. With hourly ferries departing from Split to Brac, Supetar is easily accessible. And with so many accommodation options to choose from: whether you opt for a villa, apartment or perhaps one of our cottages with hot tubs, you will be spoilt for choice!
