Situated just seven kilometres southeast of Zadar in a wide bay known as the ‘Golden Harbour’ (Zlatna Luka), lies the town of Sukošan. Sukošan is home to 3,000 inhabitants and includes the municipalities Debeljak, Glavica and Gorica. Sukošan is ideal for family holidays and you will discover plenty of activities to keep the whole family entertained. Discover the area’s beautiful beaches or visit the tourist office in July and August to participate in the daily creative workshops. Children may love the Children’s Festival, which takes place at the sports centre during early August; here they can sing and dance alongside a live band.

The Feast of St Cassian takes place on August 13th in honour of the patron saint, Saint Cassian. The day is jam-packed with activities: from 8am there is a mass in the parish church of St Cassian, followed by a procession through the old town. You will find that nearly every house prepares a roasted lamb on a spit, which is offered to visitors from near and far. After a long and hearty lunch, revellers drink wine and soak up the atmosphere, which is followed by fun, dancing and fireworks late into the evening. The clubs and cafes are brimming with activity, as the locals mingle together until the early hours of the morning.
Great Beaches
One of the main attractions for holidaymakers to stay in villas in Croatia in Sukosan are the beautiful beaches, such as the main city beach called Djecji raj. Most of the beaches in Sukosan are pebble beaches and the sea is relatively shallow making them excellent for swimming and for families with children to enjoy. National Parks and Nature Parks

Visit Zadar

In Zadar, there are some superb monuments such as the 9th Century Basilica of St Donat and the Cathedral of St Anastasia. The city is not too crowded with tourists but has lots of character and it also has two unique attractions that have to be seen to be believed. The Sun Salutation is designed by Nikola Basic and is a circle in the pavement filled with glass plates that absorb the sun’s energy in the day powering the harbour lights and a sea organ sound, which with a light show every evening attracts lots of people at sunset to see this amazing sight!
