The countryside around Gilleleje is fascinating, with woods, heather covered areas, fields, steep cliffs by the water and of course kilometres of bathing beaches. The town also offers a number of good restaurants and cafés, and there are many shopping possibilities.

If you like rambling, the Gilbjerg path brings you out into the countryside. The path starts in the town itself and winds around the holiday cottage area and over the burial mound to Gilbjerghoved, which lies metres above sea level. There is a wonderful view of the area and the Kattegat from here, and the paths are connected to other paths that cover the whole coast.
