Holiday Villages in Belgium
Holiday village benefits
Holiday villages are designed from the ground up for family holidays. In a friendly environment, where kids can play and adults can chat, self-catering holidays are even more sociable and enjoyable. Many of our holiday homes in Belgium are situated in holiday villages, ranging from tranquil lakeside cottages to wild forest apartments. Whether your family fancies an active nature escape or a relaxing break just outside one of Belgium’s picturesque country towns, we have a holiday village for you.
Belgium self-catering holidays
Belgium is a popular destination with UK families for its convenient location and its charismatic European culture. If your family isn’t too keen on travelling, or maybe you have very young children, Belgium is an easy place to get to, whether that be by air, train or car. On arrival at holiday homes in Belgium, families find that towns and cities in this small country are not far apart and that travelling distances are rarely more than an hour or two. Despite this close proximity however, Belgium self-catering is a welcome break from the UK, as the country has a very distinct European culture and outlook. Sitting in a Brussels café, drinking a Belgian hot chocolate and eating French pastries, you will definitely feel like you are on holiday.
Sunclass Sonnevijver
The Sunclass Sonnevijver holiday village is a great choice for families that like to get active while enjoying modern and comfortable accommodation. Our holiday lettings in the village are modern and well equipped, allowing families to explore next door Hoge Kempen National Park and the Lanaken area on bike rides and while cycling. Bikes can be rented nearby, or brought along on the back of your car and parked safely in or next to your accommodation. Belgium is a mostly flat, but the area around the park has a mixture of terrain, giving plenty of variation for experienced cyclists. At the centre of the park is a large lake and fish pond which are very pleasant in the summer when families from across the village are cooling off by the water.
Vallée de Rabais
This holiday park is located right in the south-east corner of the country, close to the border with Luxembourg and France. The area, known affectionately as the ‘Belgian Provence’, has a gorgeous undulating landscape with rolling hills and flat valleys. Renting holiday homes in Belgium here, families enjoy exploring the Belgian Ardennes as well as hopping across to Luxembourg to explore this rarely visited country. The park is bordered by a large lake which hosts pedal-boating and kayaking in the summer; just a short walk from NOVASOL’s holiday lettings.
Illage de Vacances d'Oignies
Located right in the thick of the Belgian Ardennes, this holiday village is ideal for families who are looking to get active on a short trip away. The Belgian Ardennes is a truly beautiful natural landscape, ripe for exploring on the back of a bike or by foot. Holiday lettings in the park enjoy an authentic forest environment, with tall trees and characteristic wooden holiday homes. Belgium is full of fun things to so all-year-round, and nearby there are plenty of adventure parks and fun activities for children and adults, helping families to forge unforgettable memories while self-catering.
Jardin du Golf Durbuy
Fancy practising your putting while self-catering in Belgium? The Jardin du Golf holiday village combines sophisticated living with quality golfing; the 9 and 18 hole Barvaux-sur-Ourthe golf course has a good mix of long and short holes. As well as benefiting from the proximity to the fairways, our holiday homes in this village are extremely near to the city of Durbuy, which is a picturesque riverside settlement in the Luxembourg region of Belgium. Holiday homes in Jardin to Golf are excellent for exploring Durbuy, supposedly the smallest city in the world, and well-positioned for a Brussels day-trip which is under 2 hours away in the car.
Winter holidays in Belgium
Belgium is one of Europe’s very best destinations for Christmas and winter holidays. When the weather gets colder and the mornings get frosty, there is nothing like a warm hot chocolate to get the blood flowing again. Across Belgium, in towns and cities such as Durbuy and Ghent, Christmas markets open up and begin their Christmas trade. The market at Ghent is particularly worth visiting from holiday homes in Belgium, as it snakes through the city in an almost endless display of food and drink. Grab a gluhwein, or a high percentage Belgian beer, and join in the carols.
Fantastic food on family holidays in Belgium
If you like sweet, delicious treats, Belgium might just be the place for you. The country is, of course, famous for its fantastic chocolate as well as strong beer and fresh mussels. Although chocolate might be the country’s favourite sweet, the national dish has to be moules frites, which is enjoyed in restaurants all over Belgium. Holiday homes are a fabulous way to enjoy the food and drink of this part of the world, enabling visitors to be as flexible they want, trying traditional and modern cuisine in local restaurants.
