Enjoy Saint Joseph Day Celebrations during a stay in our Villas Croatia

The fantastic range of events kicks off in March with the Saint Joseph Day celebrations. The locals gather in Vela Luka and watch the fantastic Kumpanija sword dance performance. The ancient warrior dance, Kumpanija, is native to Korcula and celebrates the locals’ desire to protect their land and freedom. As you’ll soon discover during a stay in one of our holiday lettings, the dance is accompanied by music and drumming and finished with the ‘Tanac’, a common dance which invites both visitors and locals to join in…why not give it a try during a stay in one of our villas Croatia?

Self-catering Croatia – Dances and tradition

June marks the start of the regular folklore evenings in Lumbarda, as well as fisherman evenings in Smokvica and regular performances of the Moreška sword performances in Korcula town. The local Morris dancing is certainly not to be missed; the dances depict a battle over a stolen woman between a Christian King and the Moors and are a fantastic spectacle for guests enjoying our cheap holidays Croatia. Alternatively, join the island, and the town of Cara, in celebrating the feast of the patron saint, St Peter, at the end of June. Here the locals celebrate with Kumpanija sword dances and klapa music.
