Croatia villas in Markovac

Approximately two kilometres from Visnjan and roughly fourteen kilometres from Porec lies the small and peaceful village of Markovac. Due to its location, surrounded by vineyards and ancient olive groves, the village promises peace and tranquillity during your next Croatia villa holidays. Markovac is home to just three hundred residents, who love to tell visitors about the village’s long and exciting history. And there is a lot of history to tell! The village was first mentioned in the fourteenth century and has since been involved in numerous wars and invasions! Why not read about the village’s fascinating past during a stay in NOVASOL’s Croatia villa holidays?

Celebrations and Croatia villa holidays

Nowadays, Markovac is a far more peaceful place- simply being home to several charming country cottages. Although the locals live happily, you will not see them relaxing in the local restaurants as the village does not have any! In fact, there are no businesses here. Instead, you can often find them at the Church of St Agatha, which honours the patron saint of the same name. In her honour, and in honour of Saint Elen and Saint Mark, the village hosts annual celebrations once a year. During this time the whole village joins and celebrates. Although be warned, this celebration may disrupt the peace and quiet usually found in your direct holiday homes including our villas Croatia!

Discover Porec

Whilst staying in Markovac be sure to visit the nearby city of Porec. The ancient Roman city is a popular spot for guests in our villas Croatia who return enchanted by the city’s World Heritage listed basilica and the charming blend of Gothic, Romanesque and baroque architecture. In contrast to Markovac, the town is home to plenty of restaurants, bars and several night clubs and is also a fantastic spot for water sports. Alternatively, if it is rest and relaxation that you seek whilst staying in our holiday lettings discover the quieter town of Visnjan. Explore the old town’s cobbled streets and marvel at the breath taking views of the surrounding countryside.
