The Canary Islands consist of seven larger islands (Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro) and a number of minor islands (Alegranza, Graciosa, Montana Clara, Roque del Este, Roque del Oeste and Lobos). Each island is characterised by a unique landscape which varies from one island to the next. NOVASOL is proud to have a growing portfolio of holiday lettings in Spain, including apartments and villas in the Canary Islands.
The Canary Islands are possibly most well known for their year round warm temperatures and mixture of white and volcanic sand beaches with lots of water based activities. However, other landscapes can also be explored and enjoyed including; subtropical rainforests, volcanic national parks, sand dunes and rough mountain landscapes! With such variety of islands and landscapes and so many varied holiday resorts in the islands, from large and lively to small and quaint, the Canaries really do cater for couples and families, young and old looking for their perfect Spanish villas.
Two great islands that are very popular with families, with great all round resorts like Playa Blanca and Puerto del Carmen in Lanzarote, or Corralejo and Caleta de Fuste in Fuerteventura. See our fantastic range of holiday rentals in Lanzarote and be sure to visit Timanfaya National Park, where the volcanic landscape was formed hundreds of years ago. If your Spanish self-catering holiday is based in Fuerteventura, be sure to try wind or kite surfing on some fabulous beaches to the North of the island. If you are familiar already, why not try something new and explore our range of Spanish villas in the Balearic Islands!
Many tourists renting holiday lettings in Spain enjoy a day exploring Mount Teide in Tenerife – the highest peak in Spain – whilst the weather is cooler. The Teide National Park became a UNESCO world heritage site in 2007. In contrast, Gran Canaria is perhaps best known for the Maspalomas sand dunes, where sun seekers on self-catering holidays find bliss topping up their tans and kids can run wild on the broad, sandy beaches. Holidays in our Spanish villas can vary between the islands, but they do have in common some fantastically lively summer resorts such as Playa de las Americas or Los Cristianos in Tenerife and Playa del Ingles in Gran Canaria.
NOVASOL is one of the only accommodation providers in the UK that offers self-catering in Spain on the lesser well known islands of La Palma and El Hierro. Flights to La Palma can be booked with either British Airways or Iberia via Madrid or alternatively take a local flight with Binter Canarias from one of the other international airports in the Canaries. Both islands offer a more rural & traditional experience in Spanish villas, they also enjoy rich, green landscapes most unlike areas of Tenerife and Lanzarote.
Although we cannot deny that each individual island in the Canarian archipelago has a unique character and cultural flavour, we can comfortably say that there are a few things you can expect whether you rent your villas in Tenerife, El Hierro or in Lanzarote. Of course the beaches provide excellent activities for family holidays, whilst small towns are an excellent resource to learn more about local culture and traditions. Be sure to stop off at local farms, vineyards and restaurants where possible and to speak to local people, who tend to be warm, friendly and very knowledgeable.
The Canary Islands are in front of the northern Sahara coast and are roughly at the same latitude as Florida in the US. Stay in one of our villas in Tenerife and discover the islands for yourself. The ancient Romans called the Canary Islands, the "Fortunate Islands". Today, millions of people feel as fortunate to make the Canary Islands the destination for their self-catering holidays in Spain. These beautiful islands are no longer a secret and have been popular with tourists for many decades, however, the seven main islands in the Canaries offer something for everyone from fantastic beaches, to nightlife, natural parks, local markets and turquoise seas. You can also choose to book one of our villas in Canary islands with a private swiming pool to swim and relax in on your holiday.
For those looking for more active holidays other than poolside relaxing at your villa, there is a large range of sports including surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, climbing and hiking the many signposted footpaths and mountain treks on the islands. Scuba diving is also very popular in the warm waters and is full of sea life, with up to 350 species of fish to see. There are also plenty of golf courses and you can go horse trekking and sailing. If your idea of a good holiday is to relax, then the Canary Islands have plenty of fantastic beaches from the soft rolling dunes of Fuerteventura to the long golden sandy beaches of Tenerife.
