The Canary Islands consist of seven larger paradise islands (Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Tenerife, La Palma, Gomerro and Hierro) and a number of minor islands (Alegranza, Graciosa, Montana Clara, Roque del Este, Roque del Oeste and Lobos). Each island is characterized by a unique landscape which is different from the rest of the islands.
The Canary Islands are most of all known for the sunny white beaches, but other landscapes can also be explored, e.g. subtropical rain forests, barren desert-like areas, sand dunes and rough mountain landscapes. The landscapes of the Canary Islands is very varied.
Due to the trade winds, the temperature on the Canary Islands is more or less constant throughout the year. As a result, mild temperatures can be expected throughout the year.
